When Lindsey asked if I would be a guest poster, I was thrilled ! I mean, I see guest posters as people of importance . People with an authority concerning the subject matter they are writing about. People who have achieved a level of success !
Wait … I’ve been asked to do what ?
Okay, so I guess I can only shoot from the hip and tell you what I know, right? It’s not very much, but hopefully it will be useful to somebody. I know that I did lose 20 pounds. I know this is significant! I know it would not have happened without the extra motivation of being a Win, Lose, or Blog contestant. (Why didn’t I really go for it? ) I also know that I need to lose another 100 pounds, and I know that I’ve still not been really working on it as I ought to.
So, what about failure?
What about the desire for the party in your mouth that is so strong you just know it will take all your woes away? What about the hurts that continue to build up and overflow and plague your thoughts? What about the lack of support from the people you love and you thought loved you right back? What about the judgments of others that make you feel like less of a person? What about this depth of who you are that nobody understands? What about that week, or that entire month you’ve not chosen to move or stay within your calories?
I can only advise you to press on. Just because you’ve fallen and feel like you can’t get up does not mean the journey is over. Just because you won’t be bikini-ready this season again doesn’t mean you might as well throw in the towel. This journey will not end just because you fell down, so GET UP! Brush yourself off, and keep it movin’ ! It’s time to change your perspective from “quick-fix” to “however long it takes”.
Once you start to move you’ll feel taller, slimmer, and more energetic. Your chronic pains will start to disappear, and you’ll be more naturally inclined to want to eat better. Even if you just start with a walk around the block, if you stick with it, it will grow. I promise you, it will blossom and effloresce ! And when you fall down again, it’s okay. Don’t look back, just press on. The journey’s not over.
And that’s a natural ending place, but I have more to say. ACK! Go figure. First, find your own niche. Accept that there is no one right way to do anything , save what works for you ! Second, you will find a wealth of information and support from weight loss blogging. When you feel alone in the journey a comment from a reader will inspire you to new heights! Please start that blog, and when you do (or if you already have) invest some time and thought in commenting on the blogs of others. These are new friends, like-minded in health and fitness and weight loss, and they want to see you succeed! Their ideas will help you through your journey of pitfalls and victories.
It’s okay that you’re feeling alone right now. There is purpose. You will become a graceful, new you with an unparalleled level of compassion and love. You will touch the hearts of many, so don’t give up on yourself! There is not a person in this world that is absent of value. This includes you. So you’ve been failing? It’s okay. The journey doesn’t end when you have a difficult time, it just begins anew from a different perspective.
I know this is a weird post, but this is how I shoot from the hip! And I do so with a prayer for all those who feel weighed down by failure to be encouraged in just the way they need to be for success. :)
