I (Lindsey-Belle) was lucky enough to be featured in the Firm Wave Infomercial (well I had an exciting 11 seconds of screen time lol). The trip & infomercial were a once in a lifetime experience for me- why? Because I had the opportunity to meet a very special group of ladies (& 1 gent) that I have remained good friends since then- over 3 years ago! One of my very good friends Tammy- has agreed to guest post on Two Belles Fitness. Tammy is one of the most inspiring women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! Enough from me…on to what you really want to read-Tammy’s story!!!!
~Time For A Change~
As we all know, the decision to lose weight is never an easy task. Sure you have the desire to want to look better in your clothes and feel better about what you see in the mirror, but when it comes right down to it, it takes motivation to do it as well as determination to stick with it. It most definitely has been the hardest thing in my life that I’ve had to do, hands down. My story… I have been overweight all my life, fat kid, fat teen, fat young adult and so on. Tried numerous times to lose weight like everyone else out there, only to fail and give up. I had become a person who was resigned in the fact that I was gonna be heavy forever.
Then along came the popular gastric bypass surgery, hooray, my way out!!! I requested an application for the surgery and was amazed by how fast things got rolling with the process. Then came the day that I got the phone call from the hospital, “sorry but your insurance company won’t consider paying for this surgery, until you try a weight loss program first”. I was crushed and disheartened because I felt that it was my last chance at losing weight. But then a voice inside me said “perhaps this isn’t your last chance, maybe there’s another way”. So reluctantly, I joined Weight Watchers in February 2004 and trust me, I wasn’t happy to be there. I was mad at the world because I felt like I was the only person going through this. But I soon got over it as I lost five pounds the first week. I continued to go and by the end of the required six months, I had lost almost 50 pounds and decided to stick with Weight Watchers instead of considering surgery.
I continued to go and eventually reached my weight goal in January 2007, losing a total of over 140 pounds. I am still going to Weight Watchers to this day and maintaining my weight loss, and have since began to work for Weight Watchers as a receptionist. I am living proof that you can lose weight without surgery. All it takes is motivation, commitment and determination. There are gonna be those days when you want to give up, but you have to keep going, the end result is so worth it. My life has changed completely since I’ve began my fitness journey, I eat healthier, work out five-six days a week, I’ve recently become a Zumba instructor which I love. I love the fact that I really think about the food that I put in my body before I eat it. I am proud to say that I am fit and healthy and I intend on being this way for the rest of my life…
Thank you SO much Tammy for sharing your story with us! You continue to inspire me, my friend!
