Review: Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp
Ariane Hundt, 2011 ***** (5 of 5 stars)

Ariane leads this 52 minute C+S workout………..The dvd comes packaged with two resistance loops, and you will also need an optional step. You will run along the Brooklyn Bridge with Ariane & 5 others stopping periodically at benches for some strength work. There is also a running alternative of jacks, high knee run, & squat hops offered.

The warmup consists of bench pushups, tri dips, and a set of step ups and then you start jogging along the bridge & back with the group. You stop periodically for strength work that includes: pushups, tri dips, sets of upper body band work, side oblique bends, band side squats adding a hop, wall sits, squat jumps, front & rear leg raises, and at one point you stop in a park for donkey kick variations & plank holds and concludes with a short stretch.

I rate this is a high intermediate workout. I really felt like I was running along the bridge with the group. Very fun, lots of variety of exercises, and obviously wonderful scenery. There is no wasted time, you are constantly on the move! Super unique workout dvd and I hope for more like this from Ariane!!! Her cuing & form pointers are excellent and the music is great & motivating. I received this dvd to review.

Review: Pilates Sports Center: The Foam Roller Fitness Workout

This 52 minute workout is done in voiceover with two exercisers, one showing advanced modifications. You will need a foam roller, light hand weights, & a dowel or chair for balance. The workout really targets the core and includes a floor section, a weighted upper body section, a standing section, and a stretch.

I would consider this workout foam roller pilates and is quite diverse in its offerings. They do a great job of using the roller in a variety of ways: lying on it, under the hips, under the feet, standing on it, and behind your back on the wall. Exercises include : crunches, toe taps, teaser, helicopter & scissor legs, plank variations series, pushups, swan, squats while standing on the roller, wall squats w/ the roller behind your back against the wall, wall pushups, mermaid, side lying oblique series, table top exercises, bridge work, and concludes with a stretch section.

I am new to foam rolling and I felt this was a pretty challenging w/o, hi intermediate with the option to go advanced. The addition of the roller to traditional pilates work added a nice balance challenge and upped the intensity. Great cuing & form pointers and lots of variety in exercises. I received this dvd to review.

But the Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake? YUM YUM!!! That one was the big winner for me and my taste buds! Because there is no raw egg in the batter I was able to lick the batter bowl while the cake was baking and I knew I was in for an awesome treat. I had a hard time waiting for the cake to cool to be able to enjoy it!! This is a seriously delicious sweet treat option that left me satisfied and feeling no splurge guilt at all! Love that!

Here are a few other things I like about Sans Sucre:

Each package as prepared makes 7-8 servings. I LOVE that because it’s perfect to treat my family of six to one serving apiece and have a couple pieces left over for ME over the next day or two. I love not having half a cake pan full of fattening, sugary brownies tempting me to devour them! The smaller size mix packages makes for quick satisfying sweet treats without being overloaded with extra unneeded treats.
To prepare the mixes you simply add water and a couple tablespoons of oil! No eggs, no milk, nothing fancy. Easy peasy. And to keep them fat-free, I substitute applesauce for the oil and it works perfectly. Quick prep, quick bake time.
The baking mix packaging includes delicious recipe ideas (as if the mixes themselves aren’t delicious enough! LOL)

Review: Pilates For Men 10-20-30 Challenge

This 3 disc set contains three 30ish minute workouts made for men by men. The set boasts that you will feel a difference in 10 workouts, see a difference in 20 and have a whole new body in 30 workouts. You will only need the included band & ball for these workouts. The instructor works out with one background exerciser who provides advanced modifications. The dvd is done in voiceover.

Disc one (28 min) focuses on the core & does not use any equipment. Exercises include: the hundred, single leg reach, bridge variations, rolling like a ball, calf raises, tri dips, teaser, side plank holds adding a hip drop, plank variations, and pushups.

Disc two (34 min) focuses on the upper body & uses the band. Exercises include: band pinches, oh band tri press, rotater cuff, zoro sword progression, upright rows, bench press & crunch, military press, pec fly & crunch, band teaser & hundred, delt pulls & bi curls in V sit, pushup & row, and side plank with a kick. Great use of the band

Disc three (33 min) focuses on the core and utilizes the ball. Exercises include: saw stretch, crunches, bridge, balance bridge, teaser adding rotation, bicycle, side lying oblique series, rollover or jackknives, hip circles, & ball passes. Really like the unique addition of the ball.

I rate these workouts appropriate for most all fitness levels and appreciate that they include an advanced modification so you can really grow with this set. I like the addition of the band & ball to amp up the work and for variety. I think this is a great set for men and women alike. It adds some more strength work into the normal pilates routine-which both men & women can benefit from. Most exercises are done for 5-10 reps which allows for plenty of variety. Keep reading for a full review of Cathe Freidrich’s AfterBurn , from her new Low Impact Series. This dvd- along with other fav’s from Cathe’s Low Impact Series is on SALE at Collage Video right now for only $21.99!! Thats a super bargain! And you know your Collage Video orders always come SUPER fast and their shipping is FREE on most items over $25.00 and cheap on anything else. For example, I just ordered a foam roller (yay!) from Collage Video and the shipping was only $2.99- way cheaper than anywhere else I looked! I got it super duper fast- I can not wait to try it!!! Collage Video has some great foam roller dvds that I have my eye on. And Collage guarantees ALL of their dvds- even on ones you have opened! Thats customer service!

Low Impact Series: AfterBurn Review
Cathe Friedrich, 2011 ***** (5 of 5 stars)

This is an awesome 54 minute dvd that offers plenty of premixes & is chaptered very well. Cathe works out with 4 exercisers in a nice open set. You will need dumbbells and gliding discs for this workout. Cathe takes you through a cardio & a strength exercise which you repeat & move on to a new combo.

After a w/u exercises include: cardio squats, squats w/ clean & press, glider climbers, lunge floor touch, low impact skaters, swings, disc burpees w/a pushup, runner sprints, dip & bi curl, plank w/ a leg thread, disc jacks (neat!), spiderman climbers, side lunge & over head press, plank drags, dip & lat raise, etc. & concludes with a c/d & stretch.

I rate this is a low advanced workout- it is simple choreo but nonstop heartpumping cardio and strength work. LOVE the unique exercises & the addition of the discs. Love the functional feel, low impact, and that my core was really worked! I really love the low impact but high intensity & simple but not boring choreo- this is definitely a unique, fun but tough w/o. I look forward to more from this series! I received this video to review.

It smells of creamy vanilla blended with sweet orange for a perfectly delicious balance! While the Cake Beauty Sweet Escape kit from EdenFantasys is my favorite scent- the Celebrate kit is a close close second. Really must we choose only one? I was sent a Mocha Tee Shirt Extender to review for this giveaway… and I am pretty sure that I have worn it twice a week since I’ve gotten it! Pretty much just a quick as I can get in in and out of the wash! {please excuse the no-make-up-face … this was first thing in the AM}

First Impressions:
I am not really sure what I was expecting, but at first it was kind of odd to just have half a shirt… I had to explain to my fiance that it is kind of like a reverse dickey… which is actually kind of humorous… The Tee Shirt Extender that I got was amazingly soft and the top band was not overbearing, I actually could barely tell I was wearing it! Since I am trying to lose weight these days I have noticed my pants are getting looser – which means they like to slide down my hiney when I am not paying attention… which creates less than ideal situations for me…. I love that the Tee-Shirt Extender helps keep me covered! With regular shirts I have to worry about bending over or reaching above my head and exposing myself! Not with the Tee-Shirt Extender!

Style:
The Extender I got was the ‘Mocha’ color… which for me, would not have been my first choice – only because I wanted to wear it so often that a black one would have gone with more of my clothes… I think layering it totally *in* right now, so the Extender is a really nice way to keep covered and still be stylish!

Sizing:
I think that they might be a little on the big side, or intentionally loose… I am a size 14 right now, so that would be a M/L by their sizing charts, but I felt like mine could have been a size smaller and still would have fit nicely… They go up to a L/XL for sizes up to 24+ which is awesome!

Cost:
These Tee-Shirt Extenders cost $16 when purchased individually or you can get a small discount when buying in bulk (3 for $40!)… Plus our readers can get 20% off by entering welovebloggers at checkout!

In my penny pinching, wedding fund saving, mind – these are sold a a very fair price!
